Diesel Fuel Filtration
Diesel Fuel begins to degrade 60 to 90 days from date of manufacture.
How old is your fuel? Your generator runs every week for 20 or 30 minutes.
What if you need it to run for 3 days?
Will the old fuel in your tank plug the filters and shut down the engine?
Will you be able to find a mechanic for repairs in the event of an emergency? Just running the engine is not enough to preserve your fuel.
Diesel engines are designed to return a significant portion of fuel not used for combustion back to the tank. This return fuel is very hot and under extreme pressure. These two conditions actually promote the fuel breakdown process. Putting new fuel on top of old fuel does not make the bad fuel good. It only contaminates the new fuel.
